Controversial Report On Stimulus Funds Disputed
WASHINGTON D.C. (Midwest Communications) - Looks can be deceiving when it comes to mistakes in the distribution of federal stimulus dollars to Wisconsin.
Six Wisconsin House districts that don't exist are listed as getting over $2 million from the federal stimulus package...according to the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity. They included the 9th, 10th, 14th, 39th, 55th, and Double-Zero. But U.S. Appropriations Committee Spokesman Ellis Brachman says that's not how money was awarded. Brachman indicates companies that received the stimulus money didn't know what House districts they were in when filling out paperwork.
Recently government agencies have been criticized for overstating jobs claimed to be created or saved.
