Well let's see...the NCAA field is set and Wisconsin & Marquette are in...The Pointers are in the D-3 Final Four...The field is set for the Boys Highschool State Tournament and Girls sectionals....and the Bucks just keep rolling....yeah it must be the middle of March.
Badger fans know where Wofford is after facing them in the football season. Could be an interesting 2nd round matchup with Temple or Cornell. It's the 12th consecutive appearance for the Badgers...the days of hoops futility in Madison seem like ancient history.
The Pointers keep rolling and Bob Semling's crew heads to Salem Virginia for a friday matchup with Randolph-Macon. Threre is a fan bus heading to the games and you can call the UWSP ticket office at (715) 346-4100 if you want more info.
The Badger hockey team punched their ticket to the WCHA Final Five at the Excel Energy Center. The will face St. Cloud State Friday afternoon.
The Bucks went 4-0 on their homestand and are 6 games over .500.It's the first time since 2002 they are that much over the .500 mark. They head west now for three games in LA (Clippers), Sacramento and Denver. I won bid for four Bucks tickets at an auction to benefit Wisconsin valley Lutheran High School Saturday Night...unfortunately they are not until next season.
Congrats to the Antigo Red Robins as they earn a trip to the Boys High School State Tournament. They play Appleton East on Thursday afternoon. There are also some good matchups in the girls sectionals this week. Wausau West faces Marshfield while Rapids plays Oshkosh West in D-1....Medford-Witt/Birn square off in D-2...and you can catch two of the top girls teams in the state face-off Thursday night at the Wausau East gym as Wausau Newman play Rapids Assumption.
We geat another look at Chris Narveson today as he starts for the Brewers against Cleveland. He's pitched very well this spring and is strongly in the mix to make the team. We have seen enough of Jeff Suppan as he gave up four home runs yesterday. Can we just cut out losses and say goodbye..please...
The Packers have reportedly re-signed Mark Tauscher. he is on vacation out of the country but is expected back this week to sign a two-year deal. Obviously a good move.
Songs of The Day- (from my I-pod)
The End of The Innocence-Don Henley (1989) the title track from Henley's thrid solo Lp was written by Bruce Hornsby with added lyrics from Henley. You can clearly hear Hornsby's piano work on this one.
The End Of the World-Skeeter Davis (1962) Henley was probably listening to this as a kid in Texas....this huge hit for Davis was produced by Chet Atkins and a perfect example of the slick Nashville sound of the day which turned into pop success for alot of country singers.
